Zhongshan Park Beijing is in the west of Tiananmen, it has 22.5 hectares. T Zhongshan Parkhe Zhongshan Park Beijing was the Xingguo Temple in Liao, Jin ,renamed as Wanshouxingguo Temple in Yuan. In 1421,when Mingchengzu built places of Beijing, he rebuilt it to Sheji Forum. The Zhongshan Park Beijing was the place to sacrifice in Ming, Qing dynasty. The Zhongshan Park Beijing was turned  into the Cebtral Park in 1914. The body of Mr. Sun was placed here, in order to commemorate Sun, some patriotic people renamed it as Zhongshan Park.

The bronze statue of Mr. Sun was placed at the door of Zhongshan Park Beijing ceremoniously at the end of 1993. The height of bronze statue is about 3meters, and his grave looks, deep vision make command respect. The bronze statue was carved by famous sculptor-Professor Zhushao Zeng and gave as a present by two institutes. The day of unveiled the bronze statue ceremony, the government representative of Canada and somebody attended the ceremony and made address: The name of Mr. Sun to be with the name of Chinese nation; The bronze statue of Mr. Sun to be with Chinese of Vancouver; The thought of Mr. Sun to be with the peace and progress all of world. History of Zhongshan Park Shanghai

It is totally 214200 square meters including 1186oo square meters green area and 12200 square meters water area. The lawn area is 36900 square meters. Zhongshan Park Shanghai whose original name is Zhaofeng Park is also named Jessfield Park. It is H.Fogg’s private garden of Britain in original in Shanghai west rural area. H.Fogg sold the north part of the garden to American Protestant Episcopal Church. The Protestant Episcopal Church established St. Johns academy of classical learning. Then it developed into St. Johns University that is the East China University of Political. In 1914 Shagnhai Municipal Council rebuilt the south part of the garden into foreign settlement park and named Zhaofeng Park. At that time the park covers 320 mu. The gate of the park is on the crossing of Bailinan road and Yuyuan Road. In 1943 the Japanese gave the park to Wang Jingwei political power. Zhaofeng Park changed its name to Zhongshan Park Shanghai and the name is continued to use until now.

Xuanren Temple

Xuanren TempleXuanren Temple is located in 2 and 4 Beichizi Street Dongcheng District. It is also called Fengshen Temple. Many tourists visiting Zhongshan Park Beijing have a visit here since the Zhongshan Park Beijing is not far from the Xuanren Temple.

The Xuanren Temple was built in 1728 in Yongzheng period Qing dynasty to worship the wind God. In 1804 the temple was repaired. The layout imitated Zhongnanhai Palace. There is the horizontal inscribed board wrote emperor Yongzheng. The front palace is to worship wind God and the back palace is to worship eight wind Gods. The Xuanren Temple together with the Ninghe Temple, Xianzhao Temple and Shiying Palace is the imperial temples pray for rain. Tourists in Zhongshan Park Beijing also can visit the other temples durin their Zhongshan Park Beijing tour.

The temple gate sits east and faces to west. The palaces sit north and face to south. The main architectures are gate to monastery, Bell and drum Tower, Front Palace, Main Palace and Back Palace. There is a glazed tile screen wall in front of the gate. The gate has three parts, yellow glazed tile and green ridge. The glazed tilt screen wall, gate to monastery, Bell and Drum Tower and the palaces are all remained. They are not repaired a long time so they look a little old.

Preserve Peace Mill in Zhongshan Park

The Zhongshan Park Beijing was the State Temple in Ming and Qing dynasty. Together with the Tai Temple form the “zuozuyoushe” traditional architecture style. The Zhongshan Park Beijing covers 230,000 square meters now and it is a commemorative ancient temple garden.

The Preserve Peace Mill original name is Kelinde Tablet in Zhongshan Park Beijing. It was built in 1901. In 1900, the Boxer group killed the Germany emissary Kelinde. In September 1901, the Qing government designed the disgrace Xinchou Convention. It said that the government should build tablets for the foreign victims. After that, there built the Kelinde tablet in Dingdan.

After the first world war, in 1919 the tablet was moved to Zhongshan Park Beijing and changed its name into “Gonglizhansheng Mill”. In 1952, there hold the Asian Pacific Ocean Peace and Friendly Meeting in Beijing. Then the name of the tablet changed into Preserve Peace Mill. The four letters were written by Guo Moruo.

Zhongshan Park Beijing is theepitome of Chinese hometown and the crystallization of Chinese culture. The bronze statue of Sun Zhongshan represents the Chinese people never give up spirit.

It used to be the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty to worship the God of the Earth and the God of Grains. It is a memorial classical temple garden.

Zhongshan Park covers 230,000 square meters which contains some ancient architectures from other places including “Lanting pavilion” and “Lanting eight column”, once was one of the 40 landscapes in Old Summer Palace in 1917. Zhongshan Park is the epitome of Chinese home and the crystallization of the Chinese culture. Zhongshan bronze symbolizes the Chinese nation spirit-never give up. Zhongshan Park was open to the public on October 10th 1914 which was called Central Park at that time. It is one of the earliest imperial gardens in Beijing. In 1988 Zhongshan Park was listed as the national key protected institution of cultural relics by China’s state council. And now it is going to apply for the world cultural heritage.

Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao Zedong is located in south of the Monument to the People’s Heroes on Tiananmen Square. Zhongshan Park is an well known park as well as a major attraction in Beijing, which is located in west of Tiananmen square. Zhongshan Park used to be the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty to worship the God of the Earth and the God of Grains.
